Weather warnings

Heavy rains leading to localized flooding are expected over the southwestern regions of the Western Cape until Saturday afternoon.
Extremely high fire danger conditions expected in some locations over Limpopo, Mpumalanga and northeast Free State.
Disruptive snowfall is expected in some places in the high altitude areas of the Western and Eastern Cape as well as in the far southern North Cape.

Weather watches

A gale force westerly wind (62-70 km / h) is expected between Stillbaai and Plettenberg Bay.

Very cold conditions are expected in the southern North Cape and the southwestern interior of the Western Cape as well as in parts above the Eastern Cape.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Very warm in the Lowveld, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to warm with Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the southern and eastern parts.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Very warm in the Lowveld, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to warm.

North West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool, but warm in the northeast.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine and cold to cool, but partly cloudy in the east.

North Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cold, with isolated showers in places in the south and west, but very cold in the far south.

Wind: Winds along the coast will be moderate to cool from the south to southwest.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy and cold, with scattered to widespread showers and rain but isolated showers and rain in the northeast. It will become partly cloudy in the west towards the evening.

Wind: Winds along the coast will be cool to strong from west to northwest, becoming moderate to cool from south to southwest, but strong to gale east of Stillbaai from late morning through in the evening.

Eastern Cape:

Western halfTemperature: Cloudy and cold with scattered showers and rain along the southern coast and adjacent interior, but isolated on the interior in the evening. Light snowfall is possible over high altitude areas throughout the evening.

Western half – Wind: Winds along the coast will be cool to strong from the west, reaching a gale in the afternoon.

Eastern halfTemperature: Late to partly cloudy and cool, but cold in the north, becoming cloudy south of the escarpment in the late afternoon with light rain along the rugged coast and the adjacent interior in the evening.

Eastern halfWind: Winds along the coast will be moderate to cool from the southwest, becoming strong west of Kei Mouth in the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool but warm in the north. It will become cloudy with isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon except in the far west.

Wind: Winds along the coast will be moderate from the south to southwest.
