U.S. elections 2020: Joe Biden chooses Kamala Harris as vice president

 

Joe Biden announced on Tuesday that he had chosen Senator Kamala Harris as vice president.

Harris the first black woman to be named on a U.S. presidential ticket to a major party.

The 55-year-old could be the first female vice president if Biden defeats President Donald Trump at the polls.

“I have the great honor to announce that I have chosen @KamalaHarris – a fearless fighter for the little guy one of the best public servants in the country – as my running mate.

“Back when Kamala was Attorney General, she worked closely Beau. I watched them take on the big banks, uplift workers, protect women children abuse. I was proud then, I’m proud now to have him as a partner in this campaign, ”Biden tweeted.

Biden chooses Harris as his running mate, 13 months after crushing him on the debate stage during the first Democratic presidential primary showdown in Miami.
