South Africa cases increase by 1,846, deaths increase by 115

 

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize announced on Friday August 28 that the number confirmed cases COVID-19 in South Africa had risen to 620,132. This is an increase 1,846 the total number confirmed cases was 618,286 as Thursday, August 27.

Mkhize announced a death toll update 13,743. This is an increase 115 from 13,628 on Thursday, August 27.

A total 3,632,311 tests have been performed to date with 14,329 tests reported. To date, there have been 533,935 recoveries, which corresponds to a recovery rate 86%.

LATEST CASES COVID-19 BY PROVINCE AS FRIDAY AUGUST 28

The following confirmed cases COVID-19 were detected in each province as Friday:

  • Eastern Cape – 85,701 cases
  • State – 36,742 cases;
  • Gauteng – 208,579 cases;
  • – 111,863 cases;
  • Limpopo – 129 60 cases;
  • Mpumalanga – 237 65 cases;
  • Northwest – 2 22 cases;
  • North Cape – 100 43 cases; and
  • Western Cape – 105,507 cases
  • Unknown – 50 cases.

This represents a total of 620,132 confirmed cases.

COVID-19 DEATHS BY PROVINCE FROM FRIDAY

The following confirmed COVID-19 deaths were detected in each province as of Friday:

  • Eastern Cape – 2,863 deaths;
  • State – 567 dead;
  • Gauteng – 3,475 dead;
  • – 2,116 deaths;
  • Limpopo – 179 dead;
  • Mpumalanga – 330 dead;
  • Northwest – 240 dead;
  • North Cape – 120 dead;
  • Western Cape – 3,853 dead.

LAST RECOVERIES BY PROVINCE

Mkhize announced the latest COVID-19 recoveries as follows:

  • Eastern Cape – 81,373 recoveries;
  • State – 23,031 recoveries;
  • Gauteng – 179,631 recoveries;
  • – 95,011 recoveries;
  • Limpopo – 11,832 recoveries;
  • Mpumalanga – 21,994 recoveries;
  • North-West – 181 65 recoveries;
  • North Cape – 6,784 recoveries; and
  • Western Cape – 96,114 recoveries.

COVID-19 CASES

  • Eastern Cape – 1,465 cases;
  • State – 13,144 cases;
  • Gauteng – 25,473 cases;
  • – 14,736 cases;
  • Limpopo – 9 active cases;
  • Mpumalanga – 1,441 active cases;
  • North West – 6,517 active cases;
  • North Cape – 3,139 active cases; and
  • Western Cape – 5,540 active cases.
