The first-ever Female Speaker, Federal of Representatives, , Africa inclusive, Mrs. Patricia Olubunmi Foluke Etteh was born 17th of , 1953 to the Christian family of late Mr John Oyeyemi Alabi and late Mrs Eunice Atoke Alabi in Elere’s compound Ikire, Osun State. started her primary education at Baptist Primary School, Surulere, , Kwara State where obtained her Primary School Leaving Certificate in 1961, after which proceeded to Ayedaade Grammar School, Ikire, between 1968 to 1973, for her Secondary School Certificate.

Thereafter, went to London’s Morris School of Beauty Culture in 1975 and London College of Modeling in 1976 where was trained as a professional Hairdresser cum Stylist. In her thirst for more knowledge, attended the University of Abuja between 1999 and 2003 for a part time Diploma in Law course and also had a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the same institution.

Starting her political career, was first elected to the Federal of Representatives as a representative of Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in 1999 the platform of AD which, immediately, selected her as its Chief Whip. It was in 2002 that Mrs. Etteh decamped to the PDP, whose platform was re-elected to the Federal of Representatives in 2003; in realization of the fact that opposition politics of the AD held little future for her. While in the AD and in recognition of her leadership qualities, was elected Deputy Majority Chief Whip in the ; a position held from 2003 to 2007 alongside being the Leader of the South West Caucus in the National Assembly. remained in that position until she fulfilled her date with destiny when she assumed the position of the first female Speaker of the Federal of Representatives, June 5, 2007. Her tenure spanned between 1999 and 2011.

The Philanthropic Iyalaje of Ikire Kingdom as fondly called by all and sundry will never take a picture while giving charity or helping masses, , more often than not, prefers giving through people indirectly to further testify her acts of generosity without self-glorification and discrimination. Mama Etteh facilitated over 200 federal jobs limited to Custom Service, NSCDC and Immigration Service for the youths of Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency alone aside the numerous slots into Police Force, Nigerian Army, Prison Service(now Correctional Service), Federal Teaching Service and other public and private sectors.

The impactful Honourable Olubunmi Foluke Etteh (Nee Alabi, Oyinbo Dudu) in her patriotic efforts, facilitated the digging over 50 deep well, over 100 mechanised boreholes and also facilitated the building of many standard and well-equipped Centres across the urban and rural areas in Irewole Federal Constituency for the provision of clean/drinkable water and sound system for the urban and rural constituents.

In furtherance, the well-respected elder sister of the Deputy Governor, State of Osun, His Excellency, Benedict Olugboyega Alabi and loving wife of Engineer Etteh of Akwa Ibom State also earned a Law degree from the prestigious University of Bukingham, United Kingdom and called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister in 2016 to further testify her endless quest for self-development in . Also, Honourable Etteh is currently the Chairperson, Governing Board of National Hospital, Abuja where is still sincerely facilitating many more lucrative Federal jobs for all and sundry.
