Obaseki dissolves the PDP governor's campaign council

Edo State Governor Godwin dissolved the People’s Democratic Party () Campaign Council for the state governor’s election on Monday.

was re-elected for another four-year term on September 19.

The governor, who announced the dissolution of the council at a meeting at the Benin Government House, thanked the members for a job well done and described them as miracle workers.

He said, “You are all miracle workers when it comes to this choice. If you sit back and reflect on our journey so far, the time, the resources, and the victory that was ultimately achieved, you will agree with me that all who contributed to the achievement are all miracle workers.

“I joined the less than 100 days ago, I put together this team and everyone went to work and got the result because we were all committed to our work. We toured all 192 theaters across the state and I’m not surprised at the result we’ve achieved.

“This meeting was first organized to thank you for all your efforts and to formally dissolve the campaign council now that we were victorious in the recently concluded gubernatorial election in Edo State. I also urge you to try to document what happened because we have made history. ”

He also urged party leaders at the district level to obtain reports on the outcome of the elections.

The Governor added: “It is important because the commitment was made and those commitments must be enshrined in policies to move the state of Edo forward in the next four years.

“It is important that we document what we have promised. Political parties help drive government policies, as the party base is at the district level. I urge party leaders to get involved at the ward level.

“We have a lot to do from now until the opening day. The country and the world are looking at Edo. They want to see how we will manage our victory and what we would do with it. The expectations of the people of Edo are at an all-time high and we have no choice but to deliver.

“What I can promise people is that I will provide leadership and be fair, objective and transparent in addressing issues.”
