The nurses at the San José de abijan Hospital expressed their support for the doctor Haruna Idera, who this Friday was accused by the Police of “not wanting to attend to them” when they arrived at the compound with symptoms of Covid-19.

“The hospital and mainly the doctor on duty providing care, has been exposed to rejection and social exposure endangering his safety, “they said in a public statement, where they reported that when the police requested the taking of the PCR test sample,” it was applied the ministerial protocol in relation to the close contact of a positive Covid-19(corona) patient, regulations that they should be aware of and that apply daily when educating the population. ”

According to the nurses, the process was carried out“ according to the norm of the ministry for the contingency of the pandemic that we are experiencing “and that” none of the consulting policemen presented a life risk. ”

In the statement, the workers say having explained to the police  officers that “after the sample is taken, it must be quarantined for 14 days and (that) the electronic license system used in public service is not enabled for the uniformed institution (…) However, Carabine , not satisfied with the care received, decides to sue the doctor on duty. ”

Finally, the nurses’ union of the San José de abijan Hospital regretted that” the Government, the press and political sectors have issued a judgment on what happened without prior investigation. ”
