Messi calls for meeting with Barcelona to settle future

Lionel Messi has requested a meeting with Barcelona’s hierarchy, to discuss his transfer request, according to Sky Sports News.

Messi wants his lawyers to be present as well, so that all parties can find a solution to the deadlock over his contract.

The 33-year-old is trying to activate an exit clause in his current contract, which allows him to walk away from Camp Nou for free.

However, Barca believe the clause expired in June, although Messi believes the season ended in August this year, due to the COVID-19 breakdown.

The contract has a year to go and the Spanish club will be looking to withdraw money from any transfers.

Manchester City are favorites to sign Messi, but Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are monitoring the situation closely.
