The Abia state government has announced that it will investigate allegations of worker abuse at a Chinese steel company in the state.
Sam Hart, the chief executive of Abia’s National Quality Management Agency announced on Twitter on Thursday.
Previously, a Twitter user, @ Truthfully83 posted a series of visuals showing alleged abuse by Nigerians working at the factory in Ukwa, Abia state.
In the Twitter thread, @ honestly83 made a series of allegations against the Chinese company, including physical assault on workers, sexual harassment, terrible working conditions, discrimination and others.
Sam Hart in the tweet said state governor Okezie Ikpeazu had “led an investigation into the situation at Inner Galaxy Steel Company, Ukwa, Abia State. A number of government officials were on the premises this morning, including the member representing the LGA at the HoA. ”
