Hope for Obinofia community as Governor Ugwuanyi inspects erosion-ravaged road

 

On Friday, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State visited the community of Obinofia in the Ezeagu local government area amid the joy the inspection of the federal project by the (Ozoechine ) which was abandoned lack of funding.

, accompanied by a team of engineers from the Roads Department of the Federal Ministry of Public Works and Housing, headed by the Chief Engineer, Ing. ST Oluwadun, and State Project Manager of Nigeria and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP), Barr. Vincent Obetta, was informed by Engr. Oluwadun that the had been under construction by the federal government since 2013, but was abandoned lack of funding.

He therefore suggested that the state government should interface with the federal government to declare the an emergency site.

, who reiterated his administration’s commitment to rural development, youth empowerment and the well-being of the population, said the state government would intervene in the project through the possibility of meeting with the federal government on the issue of funding or of undertaking remedial work during the dry season, among others.

The governor, who asked people in the community to mention their most pressing need, approved the sum of five million naira to equip the community’s maternity hospital, after people brought it to his attention.

He told the people of Obinofia that his administration would not abandon them, reassuring them that there would be a remarkable difference.
