Femi Kuti reveals why she rejected Osinbajo's request to join APC

Nigerian Afro-beat legend Femi Kuti has revealed that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo once invited him to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Femi Kuti, as he is popularly called, however, said that he rejected Osinbajo’s request.

In a series of tweets, Femi Kuti said she rejected Osinbajo’s request.

because President Muhammadu Buhari had imprisoned his father, Fela Kuti, when he was military head of state.

The legendary singer revealed this by explaining that he refused to participate in the

Occupy Nigeria protest in 2012 against the then administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan

because he does not believe that both PDP and APC have good intentions for Nigeria.

“I want to express my role in the Ojota protest for greater clarity and posterity. I was invited by what I and many of us believed to be a genuine fuel cost cause.

“As soon as I knew I was politically motivated, I retired. I got a lot of reaction at the time, but I stood my ground. For the record, I have NEVER affiliated and will NEVER affiliate with any political party that I do not believe has the genuine interest of the Nigerian people at heart.

“Even when the vice president approached me to join APC, I blatantly refused, as I also refused to join the PPD or any other political party.

“Yes, VP Prof. Osinbanjo. And I refused because I have turned down all the invitations so far to join any political party.

“First, my main reason was that President Buhari imprisoned my father in the 1980s. Second, I did not believe that either of the two major political parties had or had the genuine interest of the Nigerian people at heart.”
