Edo presidency reacts to ‘arrest video’ involving Gambari and Oshiomhole

Mabuza snubs Parliament again, says he's still 'too sick' to face questions

The presidency spoke on the trending video showing President Muhammadu Buhari’s chief of staff Ibrahim Gambari and Adams Oshiomhole.

The former national president of the All Progressives Congress (APC) visited Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Monday.

As they discussed as they walked, their comments suggested that an arrest plot was being discussed.

On Tuesday, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said the footage revealed an elaborate plan to arrest opposition members ahead of the election of Edo governor.

Reacting, Garba Shehu, spokesperson for the presidency, called it a book of misguided elements.

A statement he signed said the video was “an ingenious patchwork of mischief, taken from an innocent conversation focused on new incidents of violence in the run-up to the election.

Shehu noted that various political parties campaigning in Edo have brought charges of violence against each other.

“In such a state of heightened uncertainty, responsible leaders must ensure that elections are held in a peaceful manner and, if warranted, a judicious use of law enforcement to protect the lives and property of citizens. is mobilized, thus preventing criminal elements from disrupting the democratic process.

This message was repeated over and over again by the President. It does not support any violence of any kind and its propagators will be brought to justice. The elections must reflect the will of the people, ”he said.

The aide pointed out that Gambari and Oshiomhole have a history and track record of working to protect the rights of Nigerians.

He added that they will never be found encouraging conduct contrary to these values.
