Davido revealed why he went back to school

Nigerian singer and record label owner , better known by his stage name Davido, has revealed why he went back to school, adding that Don Jazzy and D’banj inspired him to be a singer.

The DMW boss, who took a break from social media for months, made it known in a recent Instagram live chat with the Grammy Museum.

He said,

“In the early stages of my career, it was like a one-man band.

For my first single, I did the rhythm and recorded the song myself.

I mixed and mastered myself.

When I was growing up, I couldn’t do everything myself anymore.

Now I have producers and songwriters that I work with.

Now I believe in collective efforts.

The business side of everything is important.

Music is only about 30 or 40 percent.

Going back to school helped me focus.

Sometimes in life, you just have to sacrifice yourself.

It was something I had to do for my father. “

Speaking further, the Atlanta-born singer said Don Jazzy and D’banj inspired him to make African music.

“Coming from Atlanta and just being with them inspired me.

I remember seeing them with in a room.

They had a lot to do with me wanting to make music.

My father has also been a mentor. “

When asked why he didn’t go into the family business like his brothers, OMO singer said:

“Not that I wanted to rebel;

I was in love with music.

and I couldn’t focus on anything else.

I was lounging around school and other things I wasn’t supposed to do because of my love of music.

I had to fight for it.

It’s what he knew he was meant to do.

He was learning to record, so he was loafing about other things. The music took over me. “
