International students are invited to apply for the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships 2022-2023 for the academic year 2022 beginning on August 1, 2021, and to submit their applications by December 1, 2021. This is a wonderful opportunity that can be taken advantage of so that you can study in Switzerland for free.

Switzerland’s Excellence Scholarships 2022 are fully funded and cover tuition fees, stipends, room and board, health insurance, among other expenses.

Approximately 180 countries benefit from the Government Excellence Scholarships offered by the Swiss Confederation every year. The Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS), which awards these scholarships, selects recipients.

Young foreign researchers with a master’s degree or a doctorate, as well as foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree, are eligible for the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships 2022.

Scholarships for art students in Switzerland

Students who plan to study art in Switzerland can apply for art scholarships.

Swiss conservatories and universities of the arts are eligible to receive art scholarships. There is a limited number of countries from which this Swiss scholarship is available.
Post-graduate students in any field planning to pursue research or further studies at the doctoral or post-doctoral levels (who hold a master’s degree as a minimum) can apply for the research scholarship. Throughout Switzerland, Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences, as well as the two federal institutes of technology, offer research scholarships. Academic mentors in these institutions are the only ones eligible to nominate candidates for the program.

Switzerland Excellence Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  1. In September, all applicants who have lived in Switzerland for more than a year will be ineligible for the scholarship.

  2. Academic host professors must provide a letter and brief CV (explaining and supporting the reasons they are willing to supervise and support the research) at their selected Swiss university. A rejection will be

  3. made if the application is not supported by such documents.

  4. The timeframe for the research project must be included in the proposal. The application revolves around this feature.

  5. It requires complete attention from the applicant.

  6. It is essential that applicants have the necessary language skills to conduct the research/study.

  7. Scholarship recipient are ineligible to apply for a second Swiss Excellence Scholarship.

  8. In order to qualify for a scholarship, the recipient must move to Switzerland for the duration of the grant.

Swiss Excellence Scholarships application document list

  1. FCS application form with signed and photographed signature (typed and printed).

  2. Academic publications and honors should be outlined in a CV.

  3. A letter of motivation (no more than two pages).

  4. A comprehensive report (5 pages, signed), only using the FCS proposal form.

  5. Please include a copy of an academic host professor’s letter to confirm her/his willingness to supervise and support the research at the selected Swiss university (including a brief CV).

  6. A brief curriculum vitae of the mentor at your home institution.

  7. For the 1st set of letters, please include originals in sealed envelopes from two professors in the applicant’s field (please use the FCS reference form). The second set was not copied.

  8. Obtain copies of diplomas and certificates from previous universities and colleges as well as official grade sheets, starting with the most recent. It must be attested certified translations into English if it is not

  9. in English, French, Italian, or German. Original certificates should not be submitted.

  10. Formal signature of a physician (use only the FCS health certificate form).

    Please send two copies of the applicant’s passport (the main page that contains his/her personal information). Passport copies are added by dual nationals. A copy of the residence permit for Switzerland is requested from applicants already in Switzerland during the application process.
