Abia State Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu on Wednesday approved a downward revision to the monthly emoluments of all politically appointed people in the state.
Ikpeazu said the review takes place when achieving general financial stability.
According to him, the decision was informed by the current economic crisis in the country caused by the global pandemic.
The statement by the Secretary of the Government of the State of Abia, Barr Chris Ezem, reads in part: “In the future, all persons appointed for political purposes will be entitled to their basic monthly salary at the exclusion of other indemnities.
“All relevant government establishments should note and implement accordingly.”
