Ronald Koeman identifies Man Utd target as his first Barcelona signing
Former Barcelona player Ronald Koeman has reportedly identified Manchester United target Donny van de Beek as his first signing from the Blaugrana at Camp Nou, according to Le 10 Sport.
Van de Beek had attracted interest from Manchester United in the past.
Koeman is expected to be confirmed as Barcelona’s new manager in the next 24 hours, and he is already planning to tell the club’s hierarchy to make Ajax’s midfielder a priority signing this summer.
DAILY POST recalls that Barcelona’s board held an emergency meeting on Monday following the humiliating 8-2 Champions League quarter-final loss to Bayern Munich and made the decision to sack Quique Setien, who took over from Ernesto Valverde in January.
Barcelona will have to pay compensation to the Dutch national federation before they can confirm Koeman’s appointment, but the 57-year-old is already preparing for his reconstruction.
Van de Beek scored ten goals in 37 appearances last season for Ajax.
He has become a regular national team player improving from Koeman and is available for around € 35million.
