With two months before the election of Ondo state governor, political fireworks have started to heat up in the state.
It was just as the outgoing governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, threw a blow at his successor, the outgoing governor of the state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Over the weekend, Mimiko described Akeredolu as an under-progressive governor who neglected the people-focused programs and policies he left behind during his tenure.
Mimiko who is the national leader of the Zenith Labor Party, ZLP said this during the reception of Akeredolu MP Hon Agboola Ajayi at his residence in Ondo town in Ondo West local government region of the state.
The former governor argued that any party or government that does not meet the needs of the masses at the time of their aspirations was not progressive, adding that the ZLP was the only party with a human face.
While praising the deputy governor for joining forces with the ZLP, Mimiko said Ajayi was a well-prepared and experienced politician.
Recall that Ajayi officially declared on Friday for the ZLP where he would fly the party flag on October 10, 2020, after his name was replaced by the party’s standard-bearer, Rotimi Benjamin.
Meanwhile, the state government has described Mimiko’s allegation as a ploy to manipulate the minds of his supporters.
According to Ondo Information Commissioner Donald Ojogo “We can only sympathize with him because he came to remind the people of Ondo State and also reactivate their awareness of his almost forgotten past. No one without dangerous content can market a dangerous product. ”
