The Kaduna state government revised the curfew hours in the local government areas of Jema’a and Kaura from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., effective Thursday, August 13, 2020.
A statement by Homeland Security and Home Affairs Commissioner Samuel Aruwan explained that the 24-hour curfew in the local government areas of Kauru and Zangon Kataf would be maintained while close monitoring of the security situation in both LGAs would continue.
Recall that the local communities of Zangon Kataf and Kauru have been subject to a 24-hour curfew for about two months following the unrest that led to the alleged murder of a farmer in Zangon Kataf in June 2020.
The statement further explained that following a review, the army and police carrying out internal security operations in southern Kaduna recommended reducing curfew hours in the local communities of Jemaa and Kaura. .
