U.S. elections 2020: Joe Biden chooses Kamala Harris as vice president

 

Joe Biden announced on Tuesday that he had chosen Senator Kamala Harris as vice president.

Harris the first black woman named on a U.S. presidential ticket to a major party.

The 55-year- could be the first female vice president if Biden defeats President Donald Trump at the polls.

“I have the great honor to announce that I have chosen @KamalaHarris – a fearless fighter for the little guy and one of the best public servants in the country – as my running mate.

“Back when Kamala was Attorney General, she worked closely with Beau. I watched them take on the big banks, uplift workers, and protect women and children abuse. I was proud then, and I’m proud now to have as a partner in this campaign, ”Biden tweeted.

Biden chooses Harris as his running mate, 13 months after crushing on the debate stage the first Democratic presidential primary showdown in Miami.
