Invasion of Edo Assembly: caucus of PDP representatives lists suspected brains

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House Representatives condemned the invasion the Edo State House Assembly.

His reaction was contained in a statement Sunday from President Kingsley Chinda.

The caucus indicted the Minister Justice and Attorney General the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and the Inspector General Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu.

After the uproar, Malami asked IGP Adamu to ensure the safety 17 APC lawmakers.

“As the highest ranking judicial officers, they should be seen as keeping peace and order and not otherwise,” noted the PDP body.

He also blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC), its former president, Adams Oshiomhole, and his supporters.

The caucus accused them of trying to unleash chaos on the people of Edo in a bid to gain control of governance.

He likened the development to military days and warned it could cause democracy to collapse.

Lawmakers have advised the federal government to show maturity, openness and a real sense of responsibility.

They warned of actions that could provoke electoral violence before and during the governor’s election on September 19.

Lawmakers urged Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Edo people to resist attempts to provoke a crisis in the state.

They told President Muhammadu Buhari “to live above partisan interests and for once be for everyone and defend the constitution of Nigeria”.

The statement said the attempt “to impeach President Frank Okiye through the backdoor was not only a clear case of desecration of the institution of the legislature, but also an affront to the people of Edo State and even Nigerians ”.
