Police confirm death in Jigawa bridge collapse


A heavy downpour washed away a bridge in Badungu village, in the Birnin Kudu Local Government area in Jigawa state, killing a 21-year-old man identified as Sani Dahiru.

Police spokesman SP Abdu Jinjiri confirmed the incident DAILY POST in Dutse, the state capital.

He said the incident occurred on evening following a heavy downpour which resulted in the collapse bridge connecting Badungu village and Cagun village in the local government area of ​​Birnin kudu.

Jinjiri said that a Sani Dalha from Gwangwara village drowned and died trying cross the bridge.

He noted that the deceased handed over to relatives and buried according to Islamic rites.

State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Aminu Usman and members and entourage also paid a condolence visit to the family deceased.

He noted that the Jigawa State government will work on the reconstruction bridge due to its economic impacts on the population region and the state in general.
