The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, South-South National Vice President Dan Orbih, accused Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, of plotting to impeach Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Orbih made this allegation by linking Tinubu to the crisis in the Edo State Assembly.
Speaking to a press conference on Saturday, Orbih claimed that Tinubu dictated the terms of Obaseki’s impeachment.
Orbih, however, said the people of the state would resist Tinubu’s policies.
He said: “I also want to state here that his style of politics in the Southwest is not attractive to the people of Edo.
“It makes no sense for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to sit in the comfort of his home and explain the reasons for the impeachment of the governor-elect of Edo State.
“Reading his statement, I have come to the conclusion that he certainly is not aware of the issues regarding the unfortunate incident in the State House of Assembly.
“I should expect, as a former governor of Lagos State, to know better.”
The crisis in the Edo State House of Assembly led to the impeachment of President Frank Okiye and the Vice President on the same day.
Reacting to the crisis, Tinubu had reported an impenetrable crime committed by Obaseki.
